QIA Seeking Applications for Community Director of Igloolik

Iqaluit, Nunavut, April 20, 2026 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is seeking individuals that are interested in applying for the position of Community Director of Igloolik. The deadline to submit applications is May 18, 2026.

Following the recent passing of Louis Tapardjuk, the Community Director position for Igloolik is now vacant. This position will be filled on an interim basis until the next scheduled election for Igloolik in December 2026.

To be eligible for this position, an individual must:
– Be an Inuk recognized under the Nunavut Agreement
– Be a resident of Igloolik for at least 12 months
– Be 16 years or older on May 18, 2026
– Present a Criminal Records Check issued within the last 6 months

Selection of a new Community Director for Igloolik will be made by the QIA Board of Directors, and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the upcoming QIA Board and Annual General Meetings.
