Iqaluit, Nunavut – May 28, 2026 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) extends its sincere congratulations to Gloria Uluqsi on her election as President of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) in the recent by-election.
Prior to seeking this role, Gloria served as Senior Project Director, Blue Economy, where she demonstrated strong leadership and a deep commitment to advancing opportunities for Inuit and Nunavut communities. A graduate of the Nunavut Teacher Education Program, Gloria has long been a passionate advocate for Inuit culture, language, and education.
“Gloria brings leadership, experience, and passion to this role,” said QIA President Olayuk Akesuk. “Her work advancing Inuit priorities, combined with her dedication to culture and education, will serve NTI and Inuit well. We are excited to see her step into this position and look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”
QIA would also like to recognize the contributions of QIA Secretary-Treasurer Adamee Itorcheak, who served as Vice-President, as well as Acting President, for NTI during this transition period. QIA thanks him for his leadership and service and welcomes him back to the Association as he resumes his duties as Secretary-Treasurer.
QIA looks forward to continued collaboration with NTI under Gloria’s leadership and to working together on shared priorities that strengthen Inuit rights, culture and community well-being.
