Notice of By-Election
Iqaluit, Nunavut – February 13, 2026 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) advises its members that a by-election for the Kinngait Community Director on the QIA Board of Directors will be held in Kinngait on April 20, 2026. This position will fill the remaining term ending in December 2028.
To be eligible to vote, individuals must be Inuk enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, be at least 16 years of age as of April 20, 2026, and have regularly resided in Kinngait for at least one year.
The nomination period runs from March 16 to March 27 at 5:00 pm local time. Candidates must provide a criminal record check issues within the past three months and are encouraged to begin the process with the RCMP as soon as possible.
Voting information:
Advanced Polls will take place on April 13, 2026
Election Day will be on April 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time
