 The Finance Clerk provides a range of financial and accounting services such as accounts payable, monthly reconciliation, analyses and verifications, reporting, data and payroll entry, as well as other financial administration duties to support the Department of Finance and Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA).

This position will perform general, day-to-day financial and accounting functions to support the Department of Finance and ensures that all accounts payable invoices, monthly payments, reporting, posting corporate credit card charges and system entries are made in a timely, accurate and accountable manner.  These duties are done in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, financial legislation, internal processes and controls and applicable QIA policies to ensure quality financial and accounting services.

The Finance Clerk role will work collaboratively and informatively with internal and external clients and stakeholders to ensure departmental effectiveness, client satisfaction and to support and maintain the reputation of the Department of Finance and QIA. This position provides financial support to enable fluid operations, fulfillment of reporting obligations and decision making.  This role supports the on-going maintenance of financial records and reports to aid in audit preparation. The Finance Clerk assists in the appropriate and timely processing of organizational forms, correspondence and financial documents for the department. Duties are performed in collaboration with and communicated to other members of the financial team.

To be successful in this role, applicants are required to possess strong mathematical and analytical skills, attention to detail and must be proficient in Microsoft Office and financial accounting applications.   The incumbent must have excellent communication skills and be able to work both independently and as a team.  QIA may require the incumbent be bondable.  Fluency in Inuktitut is an asset.

Generally, this position requires a high school diploma plus relevant accounting course work, with one year of experience working in an accounts payable or a general accounting role. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered an acceptable equivalency. Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit applicants who met these qualifications. A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The salary range for this position is $76,144 to $111,679 per annum, plus $27,600 per annum Nunavut Northern Allowance. No housing available.
