Funding Available
Eligible applicants will receive $3,500 per fiscal year. Funds can be used for:
- Dog food, harnesses, ropes, collars, chains
- Qamutik materials (wood), lumber for dog houses, fencing
- Vaccines or other veterinary costs
Funds cannot be used for:
- Alcohol, cigarettes, or other tobacco products
Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be a Qikiqtani Inuit member living in the Qikiqtani region
- Be 16 years or older and listed on the NTI enrolment list
- Be an established master of their dog team with 5 or more dogs
This program is not available to political or religious organizations, businesses, or government agencies.
Eligibility Verification
QIA staff will conduct a reference check to confirm eligibility by contacting Community Liaison Officers or the Iqaluit Qimussiqtiit Katimajingit.
Iqaluit dog team owners must provide:
