QIA at the 27th annual Nunavut Trade Show

 In Blog

QIA participated in the 27th annual Nunavut Trade Show & Conference from September 18th-20th, 2018, at the Arctic Winter Games Complex in Iqaluit, Nunavut. This tradeshow has been northern Canada’s largest annual business-to-business networking event, bringing together all levels of government, Inuit Corporations, Nunavut and southern businesses, investors, entrepreneurs.

The conference focussed on topics such as economic development support and opportunities, innovation, energy, fisheries, and partnerships both within Canada and internationally.

QIA president P.J. Akeeagok delivered a presentation on what our association is doing to advance Inuit employment in Nunavut. The presentation focussed on QIA’s new Inuit Steward-Uattijiit-Pilot Program in Arctic Bay, our ongoing recruitment for Tuttarvik, a resource that connect Qikiqtani Inuit with job, career and training opportunities, the Qikiqtani Skills and Training for Employment Partnership (Q-STEP), and the Pond Inlet Monitoring Project.

The presentation was a huge success with many organizations, businesses and individuals approaching QIA afterwards to get more information on our work and opportunities to connect to our projects.

QIA board members and staff also outreached with the public at the QIA booth about our programs and new initiatives.

We always have a great experience at the Nunavut Tradeshow and appreciate the opportunity to participate in 2018. We are already looking forward to next year’s show!
