The primary role of the Department of Communications is to strengthen QIA’s profile and mandate within and outside Qikiqtani communities. In order to do this, the communications department works closely with all QIA departments and programs to coordinate the flow of information from QIA to Inuit in the region.
The department also works closely with the QIA President and Executive to communicate with government and business sectors that are involved in the Qikiqtani region.
The communication department’s primary role is to ensure that Inuit are kept aware of QIA programs, policies, meetings, activities and programs. As part of this work the communications department provides daily updates on the organizations activities via QIA’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts as well as QIA’s new blog.
In addition the communications department publishes QIA’s seasonal newsletter Tusarassat and annual reports which offer additional information about QIA’s activities and programs.
The communication department also connects QIA with media outlets through regular media releases and public service announcements and handles all of QIA’s public engagement requests.
