Position: Records Administrator

The Records Administrator position supports the Qikiqtani Inuit Association’s records from creation to disposal. This position is responsible for maintaining corporate records, organizing the off-sight storage system, supporting the establishment of a new records management systems, oversees the switch from paper to electronic record-keeping and will maintain, verify and evaluate existing systems. This role also provides administrative support to the Department of Executive Management.
Under the direction of the Governance Manager, the Records Administrator will respond to inquiries and requests for information from internal and external clients, write reports, document meetings and ensure minutes and resolutions are sent for translation and are kept up to date. This position is responsible for overseeing the preparation of all meeting binders and packages. This position will provide training to staff who have access to or share responsibility for maintaining records and is responsible for classifying and organizing the off-sight storage system, supporting the organization’s switch from paper to electronic record-keeping and will also be responsible for maintaining, verifying and evaluating existing systems and archiving data. Occasional travel may be required. Success in this role requires a general understanding of QIA and the Nunavut Agreement.
Strong organization and administration skill is required to succeed in this role and attention to detail is a must. The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to apply tact and diplomacy to influence results. Expert knowledge of records management systems and technology is required, along with knowledge of current privacy and data protection regulations. Strong computer skills and ability to work within tight deadlines is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with fluency in Inuktitut and English is required for this role.
Applicants must demonstrate two years of experience within a records or archive management environment, with experience in minute taking, compiling information and maintaining data. Experience using word processors, records database programs and awareness of information management and current technology is essential. An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required.
This position generally requires completion of a post-secondary diploma in Information Management, Library Science, Computer Science or related field. Certification in Project Management and Records Management is an asset. A combination of relevant education and related experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency.
Starting salary for this position is $71,483 per annum, plus a Northern Allowance of $24,000 per annum. Housing is not available.
