The Receptionist position is critical for effective day-to-day operations for all Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) departments. This position coordinates office activities and is the first point of contact for the public. The Receptionist ensures all visitors are greeted, and directed to the appropriate contact, whether in person, by telephone or by email. The Receptionist will respond to routine inquires, or directs the person to the appropriate party. This position ensures the office is maintained in good working order and has adequate office supplies. This role ensures staff are well supported and clerical and administrative functions are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Receptionist is often the first point of contact to the public. The Receptionist must always be professional, punctual and approachable, and act as an ambassador for QIA, ensuring all visitors are welcomed and addressed appropriately, in English and Inuktitut. The Receptionist is responsible for answering routine inquires, directing visitors to the appropriate parties and notifying personnel of a client’s arrival. The position provides clerical and administrative support to the organization and supports the Director of Administration in maintaining efficient day-to-day office management. The Receptionist may be asked to participate in meetings or project work as the Director deems suitable.
The Receptionist reports to the Director of Administration and is relied upon by senior leadership throughout QIA to provide timely, accurate and comprehensive information regarding QIA programs, projects and services. The Receptionist must be knowledgeable and provide accurate and current information to anyone seeking direction. The incumbent must be fluent in both English and Inuktitut.
This position generally requires completion of a secondary school diploma. A certificate in Office Administration is an asset. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered an acceptable equivalency. An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required.
This competition is open to Nunavut Inuit applicants only. Starting salary for this position is $55,280 per annum, plus $24,000 per annum northern allowance. No housing provided.
