QIA Now Accepting Applications for 2026-2027 Post-Secondary Scholarships
Iqaluit, Nunavut – August 7, 2026 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 post‑secondary scholarship program. Eligible students can now apply through QIA’s unified, easy‑to‑use online application form for both the QIA Scholarship and the John Amagoalik Scholarship.
This year marks an exciting milestone: the tenth year of QIA’s scholarship program — and an expanded investment in Inuit education. With an increased budget, QIA is proud to support more Inuit students than ever before. A total of 150 students will receive scholarships amounting to $450,000, in addition to the annual $10,000 John Amagoalik Scholarship, which honours John Amagoalik’s leadership in advancing Inuit rights and governance in Nunavut.
“With the expanded investment in Inuit Education with an increased budget, the QIA scholarships will be helping more Qikiqtani students access post-secondary education,” says QIA president Olayuk Akesuk, “these scholarships enable Qikiqtani Inuit students to lessen the burden of their educational expenses.”
The QIA Scholarships provide 150 awards of $3,000 each, distributed on a first‑come, first‑served basis to Inuit from the Qikiqtani Region pursuing post‑secondary studies.
The John Amagoalik Scholarship, valued at $10,000, will be awarded to a student whose field of study supports Inuit language and culture. Applicants must include a 500‑word essay describing how their aspirations are shaped by John Amagoalik and the Nunavut Agreement.
Students can apply online at: https://www.qia.ca/scholarship-application/
If students need help completing the online application, they are encouraged to contact their local Community Liaison Officer for assistance.
