Iqaluit, Nunavut – September 17, 2021 – As a part of an ongoing effort to support Inuit living in the Qikiqtani region during the COVID-19 pandemic, QIA will be distributing $110,000 in food vouchers to Nunavut Arctic College (NAC) Students in Iqaluit, NU.

“This will help Inuit students & their families who may be away from home, and for some, for the first time in their lives,” says QIA President Olayuk Akesuk. “Food Security should not be a concern for these students as they further their post-secondary education.”

Each Inuk student will receive four gift cards worth a total of $550.00 to be used between Arctic Ventures and Northmart. These funds were allocated as a part of the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Communities Support Fund (ICSF) for communities with active cases of COVID-19.

Inuit students will be able to receive their food vouchers from the NAC and should stay tuned for further details from the NAC.
