(December 2, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) confirmed that it will go ahead with the election for Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer and five Community Director positions.

The election takes place on December 14, and the advance polls on December 7.

In addition to the usual planning for poor weather conditions for the advance polls and election day, QIA has contingency plans in place for COVID-19.

“At every voting site, we will have the necessary equipment such as masks, shields and hand sanitizer to ensure that staff are protected, and Inuit can vote safely,” said Paul Okalik, Chief Returning Officer.
