Iqaluit, Nunavut, November 19, 2025 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) extends congratulations to Nunavut’s Premier elect, Honourable John Main, and the Cabinet Ministers of the 7th Legislative Assembly.
QIA recognizes the importance of this new chapter in Nunavut’s governance and looks forward to working collaboratively with Premier Main and Cabinet on shared priorities such as advancing housing and infrastructure, supporting the development of Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas, realizing a Nunavut Inuit Heritage Centre, strengthening food security and health care services, and improving education, language, and training opportunities.
These priorities, along with continued support for economic development, community well-being, and the protection of Inuit rights, language, and culture throughout the Qikiqtani Region, remain central to QIA’s work.
QIA remains committed to strengthening partnerships with the Government of Nunavut to support effective decision-making and to ensure that Inuit voices continue to guide the direction of programs, services, and long-term planning for Nunavummiut.
QIA also acknowledges all Members of the Legislative Assembly for their dedication to serving the territory. As the 7th Assembly begins its work, QIA looks forward to continued cooperation that advances the health, prosperity, and self-determination of Inuit.
