EVENT: QIA’s Emergency Land Access Initiative (ELAI) Closure

Iqaluit, Nunavut – After successfully delivering $1,235,000 in the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Community Support Fund, the ELAI program is now closed.

Over 800 Qikiqtani Inuit accessed the funding that allowed for eligible households to receive a one-time $1,500 grant to help self-isolate on the land during the recent COVID-19 outbreaks in Kinngait and Iqaluit.

The funds received by the households can be used for the purchase of fuel, ammunition, food, and other supplies needed while out on the land. With the spring thaw well underway in Iqaluit, it may also be used during the upcoming boating season.

For more information on any of QIA’s COVID-19 programming, you can e-mail: COVID-19@qia.ca or call: 1-867-975-8383.
