PSA: INUIT OWNED LAND BEACH SAFETY

EVENT: Inuit Owned Land Beach increased presence over summer months
DATE AND INFORMATION: Friday & Saturday Evenings for 5 weeks

The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is informing Iqalummiut that they may encounter increased security presence on the Iqaluit Sinaa Inuit Owned Land Beach over the course of the summer.

The security staff will be on hand during the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays for the next five weeks. Security staff will help ensure the Iqaluit Sinaa is continued to be used for its intended uses and add to the safety of beach users and nearby residents.

The increased presence is part of QIA’s planned ongoing work to ensure the Iqaluit Sinaa is safe and accessible to Qikiqtani Inuit and to support traditional harvesting activities.

The Iqaluit Sinaa Inuit Owned Land Beach runs between the MOT beach to the breakwater behind the Iqaluit Centennial Library.
