EVENT: FRESH WATER INTERVIEWS – POND INLET

DATES: November 8– 12, 2020

LOCATION: Community Hall, Pond Inlet

The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is hosting interviews with Inuit in Pond Inlet to gather traditional knowledge to design a fresh-water monitoring program.

This Inuit-led study will use Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit to demonstrate the importance of fresh water for Inuit cultural activities and gather views on the impacts of the Mary River Project.

The study is being conducted because Inuit have expressed a need for awareness pf traditional water use and measures for protection of fresh water.

Inuit who take part in the interviews will be compensated. Due to COVID-19, interviews will be limited to small socially distanced groups.
