The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is seeking a qualified and experienced HR professional to fill the role of Manager, Human Resources on a term-basis. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Manager will primarily oversee the day-to-day delivery of Recruitment and Staffing services and provide HR leadership and guidance to staff. This role will lead recruitment and staffing activities, create job advertisements, develop interview packages, and ensure HR practices comply with Nunavut Labour Standards legislation and internal policies.

The Manager is responsible for overseeing the work of an HR Team to ensure objectives are met and outcomes are delivered in a timely manner. Strong leadership and a team-oriented approach to mentor the HR team is essential in this role.

The successful candidate is accountable for results and must take an active role in the teams’ success by contributing directly to the day-to-day workload to ensure effective delivery of HR services. The successful candidate will work closely with hiring managers and provide guidance on recruitment processes to support Inuit employment initiatives in alignment with organizational priorities. The incumbent must be willing to travel to remote communities within the Qikiqtani Region. This role plays a critical part in ensuring continuity of HR operations while maintaining high-quality service, compliance, and support across the organization.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Three years of progressive experience in HR recruitment and staffing program delivery;
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing staff, including performance management;
    Strong understanding of HR legislation and staffing practices;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Inuktitut is a strong asset.

Generally, a Diploma in Human Resources or Social Science is required. Related experience and relevant training may be an acceptable equivalency. An acceptable Criminal Record Check and clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

No housing is provided.

The starting salary for this position is $126,464 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum.
