The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is looking for motivated individuals to join the Qikiqtani Skills and Training for Employment Partnerships (Q-STEP) team.

Through partnership with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), the primary goal of the Q-STEP initiative is to increase Inuit employment in the Qikiqtani Region in industries such as construction and mining. Q-STEP provides certified and transferrable skills through training programs for Inuit across the Qikiqtani Region.

Cultural Advisor, Q-STEP

The role of the Cultural Advisor is to support and ensure that the design and delivery of Q-STEP is done in a manner that is consistently mindful of Inuit culture and takes into consideration Inuit knowledge and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.

Reporting to the Project Supervisor, the Cultural Advisor assists the project team with training participant selection, providing communications such as the expectations and Code of Conduct to participants, and completes Action Plans to ensure the career goals are culturally appropriate and attainable for each participant. The cultural Advisor also develops culturally appropriate support activities and coaches participants while they attend training to help them overcome challenges which impact their ability to successfully complete training. Leading others or providing training/workshops experience is required. Knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and fluency in Inuktitut is required.  A combination of relevant education and related experience are acceptable qualifications.   An acceptable Criminal Record Check and clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required for all roles.

QIA offers competitive wages and benefits such as a Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Salary starts at $69,026 per annum. Housing is not provided.
