Position: Nauttiqsuqtiit Qimuksiit
Tenure: Pilot Project – 1 year term

The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) QIA is seeking a strongly motivated individual with knowledge of IQ principals and ability to be flexible with work hours/duties to fill the Nauttiqsuqtiit-Qimuksiit roll in Grise Fiord, Clyde River, Pond Inlet and Arctic Bay.

The Nauttiqsuqtiit-Qimuksiit position is a pilot project, working closely with the Nauttiqsuqtiit Crew.   This position works as part of a team to harvest, monitor and participate in community outreach. The Nauttiqsuqtiit-Qimuksiit conducts field work, patrols and contributes to environmental research/observation activities that facilitate the monitoring and stewardship of the Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area (TINMCA).

Reporting to the Implementation Manager, the Nauttiqsuqtiit-Qimuksiit provides cultural knowledge expertise and utilizes the qimmiit for hunting, harvesting, transportation, and community engagement programs.  Activities include but are not limited to regular land-based and youth engagement activities, hunting and harvesting, patrols, environmental research and monitoring activities, equipment maintenance, and training.  These efforts are important to food sovereignty in the Qikiqtani Region.

This position requires a professional and positive attitude as well as flexibility to deal with a new and evolving program. Land skills, communication skills, and experience working as part of a team will be key abilities. This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must be in and maintain good physical health to perform the job safely and effectively without injury.

An acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

A combination of relevant education and related experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency.

This Position is offered as a one-year term, $30.50/hr and 4% Vacation pay. No other benefits will be provided.
