QIA is seeking a highly motivated and engaging individual to fill the role of Communications Liaison.

The Communications Liaison position is a vital supporting role within the Communications division of Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA). This role will be required to build and maintains strong relationships with Qikiqtani communities and to promote QIA to ensure a strong and positive organizational presence and ensures accurate and timely distribution of communication materials to Nunavut Inuit. The position builds and maintains respectful relationships with a network of media and communications representatives and leverages the established channels to deliver important information to all stakeholders, including Inuit, resource developers, government agencies, media, staff and targeted audiences.

Reporting to the Manager of Communications, this position will assist with promotion, preparation and distribution of communication materials, presentations, campaigns, publications and reports.  This position will carry out administrative tasks such as electronic filing, copying, scanning, scheduling meetings, booking venues, maintaining supplies and other office duties as required. This role will assist the Communications division with conducting surveys to identify the interests and concerns of Qikiqtani Inuit and other key groups served by the organization. This role will be required to travel within Qikiqtani Region to assist the communication needs of QIA.  In fulfilling its duties, the Communication Liaison adheres to QIA’s policies and procedures including the Communication and Telecommunications Policies.

The incumbent of this position must have excellent interpersonal and client service skills, along with strong communication skills.  Fluency in both Inuktitut and English is required. Applicants must demonstrate experience in communicating complex information using a variety of communication methods.  Creativity is required to develop branding and formatting protocols, as well as strong knowledge of print, web, and social media interfaces such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.  Proficient in Microsoft Office, photoshop, desktop publishing and social media applications is also required.

This position generally requires a post-secondary diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related discipline.  A combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered an acceptable equivalency.

Starting salary for this position is $69,026/annum, plus $27,600/annum for Nunavut Northern Allowance. Housing is not available.
