As Manager of Inuit Impact Benefit Agreement (IIBA) Implementation, Community Engagement & Outreach you will lead community-focused implementation of the Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement (IIBA) for the Mary River Project. Your work is key in strengthening relationships between QIA, impacted communities, and project partners while ensuring Inuit interests remain front and centre throughout all phases of development.
The Manager will serve as QIA’s primary liaison with the five impacted communities of Arctic Bay, Clyde River, Igloolik, Pond Inlet and Sanirajak. This role is responsible to coordinate reporting requirements under the IIBA, promote IIBA programs, and participate in inter-organizational working groups. This position is central to monitoring IIBA commitments, supporting socio-economic mitigation initiatives, and ensuring communities are informed, engaged, and able to benefit from the project. This role works closely with QIA’s technical teams, subsidiary organizations, and the Manager of IIBA for Benefit Delivery to support decision-making, maintain information systems, coordinate planning processes, and contribute to strategic guidance for senior leadership.
This position is responsible for overseeing development of communication strategies for disseminating information to Inuit in the impacted communities. This role requires strong communication, and experience leading others in a cross-cultural collaboration, with working knowledge of Nunavut’s political and socio-economic landscape. The ideal candidate for this role has experience working with Inuit in Nunavut communities. Monthly travel to remote communities is a requirement of this position.
What We Are Looking For
- Community-focused leader with 2 years of experience managing projects and implementing agreements;
- Community engagement expertise, to build trust and maintain positive working relationships;
- Confidence in public speaking with strong ability to resolve issues in a collaborative way;
- Well developed communication and presentation skills in Inuktitut and English;
- Adaptability to manage logistics and travel to remote locations which may have limited resources;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; and
- Project Management Certification is an asset.
Generally, a Diploma in Inuit Studies, Social Sciences or a related discipline is required. A combination of relevant education and related experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency. A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Salary range for this position is $96,450 – $ 141,460 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Housing is not provided.
