Position: Implementation Specialist

The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is seeking a qualified and motivated Implementation Specialist to support the implementation of Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreements (IIBAs) for protected areas across the Qikiqtani Region.
This position plays a key role in advancing Inuit participation, leadership, and benefits in conservation and protected areas. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with communities, co-management boards, and government partners to ensure commitments are fulfilled and Inuit knowledge and priorities are reflected in decision-making.
Reporting to the Implementation Manager, the Implementation Specialist supports the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of agreements related to protected areas including national parks, wildlife areas, and other conservation sites.
The role involves working closely with community members, Inuit organizations, and government departments to support co-management processes, coordinate consultations, and ensure effective communication between stakeholders.
The Implementation Specialist supports the delivery of Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreements (IIBAs) for protected areas by working with co-management committees, communities, and partners. The role involves organizing meetings and community consultations, supporting communication between QIA and stakeholders, and helping monitor progress and report on activities. The Specialist also provides input based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) and community knowledge, supports training and workshops, assists with program administration and budgeting, and contributes to reports and planning initiatives.
What We’re Looking For:
- Diploma in Environmental Studies or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience);
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in program administration;
- Experience in community engagement, reporting, and program coordination;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Project Management Certification is an asset; and
- Ability to speak, read, and write Inuktitut is an asset.
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
The salary range for this position is $103,628 to $124,313 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Annual vacation travel assistance (VTA) is also provided. Housing is not provided.
