Governance Manager
Indeterminate, Iqaluit Nunavut
The Qikiqtani Inuit Association is looking for a Governance Manager. This role ensures QIA Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Committee meetings run smoothly and follow QIA’s bylaws, policies, and good governance practices.
Reporting to the Director of Administration, within the Department of Executive Management, the Governance Manager manages confidential documents, organizes meetings and logistics, prepares agendas, takes minutes, manages organizational records, and supports respectful communication across the organization. This position works closely with Executive Management and supports Inuit governance.
This role maintains records and electronic files, supports strategic planning and provides recommendations to improve efficiency and productivity, ensuring long-term strength and stability of Qikiqtani Inuit Association’s governance system. To be successful in this role, the incumbent must work well under pressure, manage competing deadlines and have excellent organization skills. Experience providing client service and handling confidential communications with diplomacy and tact is required in this role.
Candidates must have two (2) years of administrative experience including preparing meeting materials, coordinating schedules, managing logistics, completing reports and taking minutes. Experience using electronic meeting management systems and SharePoint is an asset. Project Management certification is an asset. Applicants should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of Board governance, bylaws, and good governance practices
- Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and respect
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office and electronic meeting tools)
- Strong communication skills, fluency in Inuktitut is a strong asset
Generally, a diploma in Public Administration or Indigenous Governance is required. A combination of experience and coursework may be considered equivalent. A Criminal Record Check is required.
The salary range for this position is $114,995 to $137,932 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Annual vacation travel assistance (VTA) is also provided. Housing is not provided.
