Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is the Designated Inuit Organization for management of Inuit-owned Lands (IOL) in the Qikiqtani Region.  The Department of Lands & Resource Management ensures access to IOL is balanced with economic development, conservation and respect for Inuit land use within the Nunavut Settlement Area.  The Manager of Regulatory Review will support the department by leading and managing public review processes of projects occurring on or affecting Inuit Owned Land in the Qikiqtani Region.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the role of Manager of Regulatory Review is responsible for leading and managing the public review process of projects occurring on or affecting IOL in the Qikiqtani Region.  The Manager will oversee the review process of project amendments and reconsideration of current projects, as well as the review process for new projects to ensure consistency with applicable land use plans, QIA land use policies, Board of Directors direction, Nunavut Planning and Project Assessment Act (NuPPAA) and respect for Inuit rights and interests as outlined in the Nunavut Agreement. This position is responsible for advancing priority projects and related undertakings and reviewing applications to determine whether proposals conform and can proceed further into the regulatory system. The Manager will lead a team of subject matter experts and consultants, develop work plans and delegate tasks.

The incumbent will be required to make presentations on behalf of QIA at public events such as public hearings, technical meetings, advisory committees and community consultations. This position will also liaise with community interest groups, government bodies, and industry stakeholders. Experience facilitating or presenting to working groups is required, along with an understanding of land use and land use planning within the Nunavut Settlement Area. Three (3) years of project or program management is required.  The ability to communicate fluently in Inuktitut is an asset.

Generally, a diploma in Environmental Science or related field is required.  Project Management certification is an asset qualification.  A combination of relevant education and related experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency.  An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required.

The salary range for this position is $87,433 to $122,406 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Housing is not provided.
