The Information Technology Support Technician role is integral to providing an Information Technology (IT) support function for all Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) departments.

This role provides technical support for QIA’s IT systems and networks in the Qikiqtani region by providing deskside support and assistance to staff in resolving IT issues with hardware, software and telecommunication systems. This includes troubleshooting, onsite and remote assistance, deskside support and setup of new peripherals, IT equipment such as PC’s and laptops, handheld communication devices, software and office applications. The IT Support (Help Desk) position contributes to the stable and efficient operation of the organizations IT and telecommunication systems.

Under the direction of the Manager of Information Technology, the primary purpose of this position is to provide deskside support to the Organization during working hours, and beyond as required. The incumbent will perform some routine operations such as managing backups, reviewing logs, reviewing network security, and maintaining IT assets and maintaining IT systems during meetings, among other organizational requirements under the direction of the Manager of IT. The incumbent will maintain the QIA website.

Success in this role requires superior organization and time management skills. The incumbent must be able to multitask in a demanding environment and have a proven ability to provide onsite and remote technical support. Confidentiality and the ability to protect sensitive and personal information is required. Fluency in Inuktitut is an asset.

Applicants must demonstrate experience working in a deskside, IT support role and have sound knowledge of IT administration and security, possess an understanding of methods to identify, classify and track physical and technological assets and be familiar with MS Exchange, SQL, Backup Software/Hardware, Wi-Fi controllers, and Sage.

This position generally requires completion of a post-secondary diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. A combination of relevant education and related experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency.

Starting salary for this position is $78,228 per annum, plus a Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Housing is not available. An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required.
