Call for nomination to Iqaluit Community Lands and Resources Committee
DATE ISSUED: February 2, 2021
EVENT: Call for nomination to Iqaluit Community Lands and Resources Committee
The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is looking for energetic and dynamic individuals to fill two vacancies on the Iqaluit Community Lands and Resources Committee (CLARC). QIA has created a CLARC in each Qikiqtani community to provide QIA information to assist in decision making and recommendations regarding land use applications and developments that may affect that community or the areas near them.
The CLARC is made up of Inuit community members respected for their knowledge of their surrounding areas, including information regarding land use by Inuit and wildlife. To be considered, candidates must be actively and personally committed to represent the interest of Qikiqtani Inuit and have a sound understanding of the land use activities that happen around the community.
QIA wishes to ensure a fair and open process for nomination to the CLARC. Once you have submitted your name, the current CLARC members will deliberate on the applications received and vote on the member to be appointed. Deadline for submissions is February 19 2021.
The term of the CLARC membership shall be two (2) years. Further information about the CLARC can be obtained from the CLO and the official CLARC manual.
