PSA: APPOINTMENT OF CRO FOR POND INLET BY-ELECTION

Iqaluit, Nunavut – January 30, 2017 – Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) today announced the appointment of the Chief Returning Officer for the Pond Inlet By-Election [SSZ1] on April 10, 2017.

Adamie Itorcheak will be the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) for the Pond Inlet By-Election.

The QIA Board met to set the Pond Inlet By-Election date. The QIA Executive Committee previously selected Ayaya Communications; a Qikiqtani based Inuit Firm, to provide election services for the 2016 elections, including its proposed candidatefor CRO, following public competition pursuant to a Request for Proposals.

The QIA Executive Committee today approved Itorcheak who is a long time resident of Iqaluit and well known for his work to improve communication technologies in Nunavut, as the new Pond Inlet CRO.

Itorcheak has extensive experience in election administration and has successfully conducted past QIA and NTI elections. QIA looks forward to working with him.
