Social Policy Programs
The Department accesses $350,000 annually for youth programs each year through the Cultural Connections for Aboriginal Youth (CCAY) program. This funding allows QIA to provide annual on-the-land programs.
$100,000 is accessed annually for language programs through the Aboriginal Languages Initiative program. Several one-time funding programs are accessed each year. DSP has provided consistent programming for Inuit beneficiaries over the years.
The Sprouts Program has been delivered for ten consecutive years in Iqaluit; a manual is currently being developed to make the program accessible for other communities.
QIA has steadily provided language week programs in Iqaluit over the years, which in 2011, celebrations were shared for the first time with Resolute Bay.
